The weather has been absolutely beautiful lately, and camping season is off to a fantastic start. Warm days, cool evenings, flowing creeks, and green mountain views make early June one of our favorite times of year to be in the North Fork Valley.
Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or a longer camping trip, here’s what’s happening around Kebler Corner this week.

One of the things guests love most about staying at Kebler Corner is having convenient access to the essentials without needing to drive into town.
Our General & Liquor Store is open daily and stocked with many of the items campers find themselves needing throughout their stay, including:

Summer event season is officially underway.
Plein Air Festival | June 10-12
Artists from around the region will gather in Paonia for the annual Plein Air Festival, capturing the beauty of the North Fork Valley through outdoor painting and art demonstrations.

Spend a Day at Paonia Reservoir
Looking for a relaxing summer adventure? Paonia Reservoir is just a short drive from Kebler Corner and offers boating, fishing, paddleboarding, kayaking, and beautiful mountain views. Many of our guests enjoy spending the day on the water before returning to camp for a quiet evening along Anthracite Creek.
Hours: Open from 9:00 am – 7:00 pm everyday except Tuesday (closed).
Guests staying with us receive:
– Complimentary boat storage
– Complimentary extra vehicle parking
For visitors not staying overnight, boat storage and extra vehicle parking are available for just $15 per day.
It’s an easy way to enjoy the reservoir while still having a comfortable place to relax after your day on the water.
Anthracite Creek Fly Fishing Report | Week of June 8
Runoff season is beginning to settle in, creating productive fishing opportunities throughout Anthracite Creek.
Current Conditions: Water levels remain elevated but are becoming more fishable as flows begin stabilizing. Early mornings continue to provide the most consistent action before afternoon runoff increases.

Focus on:
Soft seams along faster currents
Deep pools
Undercut banks
Slower water near the edges
As runoff progresses, trout will continue seeking refuge from stronger currents in slower holding water.
Current Gunnison County Fire Restrictions
As of this week, there are currently no fire restrictions in effect in Gunnison County. While recent small wildfires in the county have been fully contained, summer conditions are becoming increasingly dry throughout Western Colorado. Visitors should continue practicing responsible campfire safety, keep fires contained within designated fire rings, and check for updates before arriving, as restrictions can change quickly throughout the season.
