Memorial Day Weekend marks the unofficial start of summer here in the North Fork Valley, and we’re excited to welcome campers back for another season in the mountains.

Most importantly, we want to take a moment to thank all those who have served and sacrificed for our country. We’re grateful for the opportunity to gather, camp, travel, and enjoy weekends like this because of them.

With warmer days, flowing creeks, scenic drives reopening, and summer events around the corner, this is one of the best weekends of the year to experience Western Colorado.

Did You Know? We Deliver Ice & Firewood to Your Campsite

One of the easiest ways to make arrival day stress-free: you can pre-order both ice and firewood when making your reservation at Kebler Corner.

We’ll have it waiting and delivered directly to your campsite upon arrival so you can settle in faster and spend more time relaxing instead of running errands.

It’s one of those little conveniences that makes a big difference after a long drive into the mountains.

Easy Day Trips From Kebler Corner

One of the best parts about staying here is how close you are to some of Colorado’s most iconic mountain towns, scenic drives, and hidden gems.

Marble, Colorado & The Crystal Mill

Approx. 1 hour 15 minutes | ~38 miles

Take a scenic drive through the mountains to the historic town of Marble, home to the famous Crystal Mill, one of the most photographed landmarks in Colorado. The drive alone is worth the trip, especially this time of year as the valley turns green and waterfalls begin flowing from runoff.

While you’re there, stop into Slow Groovin BBQ for smoked meats and one of the best casual meals in the area.

Crested Butte via Kebler Pass

Approx. 1 hour 20 minutes | ~40 miles

With Kebler Pass reopening for the season, the drive to Crested Butte becomes one of the most scenic day trips in Colorado. Aspen groves, mountain views, wildflowers beginning to bloom — it’s hard to beat this route in late spring and early summer.

Once in Crested Butte, grab pizza at the legendary Secret Stash, walk Elk Avenue, or spend the afternoon exploring trails and shops before heading back to camp for a quiet evening.

Anthracite Creek Fly Fishing Report — May 25

Runoff season is beginning, but anglers are still finding productive fishing windows on Anthracite Creek, especially during cooler mornings before flows rise throughout the day.

Current Conditions

Water levels are rising from snowmelt

Fish are holding in slower seams and deeper pools

Early mornings are currently fishing best

Recommended Flies This Week

Pat’s Rubber Legs

Prince Nymphs

Hare’s Ear Nymphs

Olive Woolly Buggers

Smaller attractor patterns during cloudy afternoons

As runoff continues, focus on softer water near banks, eddies, and slower pockets where trout can conserve energy.

We’ll continue posting updated fishing reports throughout the summer as conditions change week to week.

Current Fire Conditions

As of May 25, there are currently no active fire restrictions in Gunnison County and no active wildfires reported.

However, conditions remain unusually dry for this time of year across Western Colorado, and visitors should continue practicing good campfire safety and checking for updates before traveling.

We’re looking forward to a great Memorial Day Weekend here at Kebler Corner and can’t wait to see everyone back around the campground this summer.
