Anthracite Creek Fishing Report: Week of June 1
Early June brings changing conditions on Anthracite Creek as runoff begins increasing throughout the watershed.
Anglers should expect higher water levels throughout the week, especially during warmer afternoons. The most productive fishing will generally occur during early mornings before runoff peaks.
Recommended Flies
Pat’s Rubber Legs
Prince Nymph
Hare’s Ear Nymph
San Juan Worm
Olive Woolly Bugger
Best Times to Fish

Where Fish Are Holding
Look for trout along softer seams, slower pockets, undercut banks, and deeper pools where fish can avoid stronger runoff currents.
We’ll continue posting updated fishing reports throughout the season as conditions change.
Current Fire Conditions in Gunnison County
As of June 1, there are currently no active fire restrictions in Gunnison County.
However, conditions remain unusually dry for this time of year across Western Colorado, and visitors should continue practicing good campfire safety and checking for updates before traveling.
