Summer officially began on June 21, and we couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season. The campground has been busy, the weather has been beautiful, and it was wonderful seeing so many families spend Father’s Day weekend making memories in the North Fork Valley.

Upcoming Events in the North Fork Valley
Lavender Festival | June 26-28
Lavender season is one of the most beautiful times of year in the North Fork Valley. The annual Lavender Festival celebrates the area’s blooming lavender fields with farm tours, local vendors, artisan goods, workshops, food, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the sights and scents of summer.
Whether you’re a gardener, photographer, or simply looking for a relaxing day trip, it’s a wonderful way to experience another side of the valley.

Paonia Cherry Days | July 3-4
One of the longest-running community celebrations in Colorado returns for another year. Paonia Cherry Days features a parade, live entertainment, family activities, contests, local vendors, and plenty of hometown Fourth of July spirit.
It’s a beloved tradition throughout the North Fork Valley and a perfect addition to your holiday weekend plans.

The Fourth of July is right around the corner, and we’re down to just a handful of available campsites.
If you’ve been thinking about a holiday weekend getaway, now is the time to reserve your spot. Between Paonia Cherry Days, summer fishing, boating, and all the festivities happening throughout the valley, the holiday weekend is one of our busiest times of the year.

Fishing conditions continue to improve as runoff begins stabilizing throughout the area.
Current Conditions
With the unusually dry winter and early runoff this year, water levels are lower than many anglers would typically expect for late June. Fish are increasingly moving into predictable summer holding water and feeding more consistently during cooler periods of the day.

As temperatures continue rising, expect the early morning bite to become increasingly important.
Current Gunnison County Fire Restrictions
The weather has been exceptionally hot and dry throughout Western Colorado, creating elevated fire danger across the region.
While the recent Lawhead Fire in neighboring Delta County has been fully contained, it serves as a reminder of how quickly fire conditions can change during the summer months.
As of this week, Gunnison County is currently under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions. These restrictions are intended to reduce wildfire risk as fuels continue to dry across the region.
Under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions:
– Campfires are only allowed in permanently constructed fire grates, charcoal grills, or designated fire pits in developed recreation sites.
– Smoking is prohibited except within enclosed vehicles, buildings, or designated areas.
– Certain activities that could create sparks or ignite vegetation may be restricted.
We encourage all visitors to familiarize themselves with current restrictions before arriving and to practice responsible fire safety at all times. Even a small spark can quickly become a wildfire under current conditions.
