There is no doubt summer is making its full debut and we’ve certainly been feeling the July heat. However, with this heat, there’s certainly no shortage of ways to cool off and enjoy everything the North Fork Valley and Kebler Corner has to offer.
Whether you’re planning a relaxing camping getaway, casting a line in Anthracite Creek, or attending one of the area’s summer events, here’s what’s happening around Kebler Corner this week.
NEW! Guest Access to Our Private Pond
We’re excited to announce that our private pond is now open for guest use!
If you’re looking for a refreshing way to spend a warm summer afternoon, the pond is the perfect place to relax. Guests are welcome to:
- 🎣 Fish
- 🏊 Swim
- 🌲 Relax and enjoy the peaceful mountain scenery
The pond is open daily from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Between the cool waters of Anthracite Creek and our private pond, there are plenty of ways to escape the summer heat during your stay. And while you’re cooling off, don’t forget to stop by our General Store for an ice cream, cold drink, or your favorite camping snacks!

Top O’ The Rockies Rally | July 23–26
One of Paonia’s biggest summer traditions is just around the corner. The 54th Annual Top O’ The Rockies Rally welcomes motorcycle enthusiasts from across the country for four days of scenic rides, live music, vendors, camping, field games, and community events in beautiful Paonia Town Park. While hosted by the BMW Motorcycle Club of Colorado, riders of all makes and models are welcome to participate.
If you’re planning to attend the rally, Kebler Corner offers a quiet place to unwind after a day of exploring the event!
Summer Farmers Markets Continue
Fresh produce season is at its peak! If you’re looking to experience the agricultural side of the North Fork Valley, don’t miss our weekly local farmers markets.

Anthracite Creek Fly Fishing Report | Week of July 15
Fishing continues to improve as summer settles in and runoff conditions become more stable.
Current Conditions
Water clarity has improved significantly, and consistent hatches are keeping trout actively feeding throughout much of the day. Early mornings and evenings remain the most productive, especially during the hottest afternoons.

Dry-dropper rigs continue producing excellent results.
Where Fish Are Holding
- Undercut banks
- Pocket water
- Deep pools
- Shaded runs
- Faster riffles during morning hours
As water temperatures rise throughout the day, fish will move toward deeper, cooler holding water.
Current Fire Conditions
Colorado continues to experience severe drought conditions across much of the Western Slope, and although recent firefighting efforts have helped slow the spread of several wildfires, fire danger remains high. Thanks to the dedication of wildland firefighters from across Colorado and around the country, many incidents have seen improved containment, but the landscape remains extremely dry and susceptible to new fire starts.
To help protect our guests, staff, and the surrounding forest, Kebler Corner and Gunnison County remain under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions.
1) No wood or charcoal campfires are permitted.
2) Propane fire pits and propane cooking devices are allowed if they have an on/off valve and are used safely.
3) Fireworks are strictly prohibited.
4) Please dispose of cigarettes responsibly and remain mindful of anything that could create a spark.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping protect the beautiful landscape we all enjoy. Even with improving wildfire conditions, it only takes one spark to start a new fire during periods of extreme heat and low humidity.
