May 18th, 2026

After a long Colorado winter, we’re excited to officially welcome everyone back for another camping season here at Kebler Corner. The campground is open, the General & Liquor Store is fully stocked, and summer in the North Fork Valley is already shaping up to be a good one.

Whether you’re heading this way for fishing, mountain adventures, local festivals, or simply a quiet weekend away, this is one of the best times of year to settle into the valley before the busy summer season kicks into full gear.

Upcoming Openings

Kebler Pass Opening – May 21

One of the biggest signs that summer is officially here: Kebler Pass is scheduled to open May 21 (weather permitting).

The pass is one of Colorado’s most scenic mountain drives and gives visitors easy access between Crested Butte and Paonia through aspen groves, alpine views, hiking trails, dispersed camping areas, and endless photo stops along the way. Early season is especially beautiful before heavy summer traffic arrives.

Paonia Reservoir Boat Ramp – May 22

As water levels continue rising with spring runoff, boat ramps around the Gunnison area are beginning to open for the season, including Paonia Reservoir

For visitors planning fishing trips, boating weekends, or lake days during Memorial Day and early summer, this is one of the best times to book a stay and enjoy the quieter pace before peak July crowds.

General & Liquor Store – May 22

Our General & Liquor Store will open daily from 10 AM – 5 PM starting Friday, May 22nd and will be stocked with all the essentials (and a few fun extras) you might need during your stay.

Inside the store you’ll find:

  • Snacks, drinks, and camping staples
  • Fishing gear and outdoor essentials
  • Kebler Corner apparel and gifts
  • Beer, wine, and spirits for relaxing back at camp after a long day outside

We try to carry the things campers actually end up needing — plus a few things you didn’t know you wanted until you walked in.

Current Fire Conditions in Gunnison County

As of today (5/18), there are currently no active fire restrictions in Gunnison County.

However, conditions across Western Colorado are already very dry for this time of year following a below-average winter snowpack, and Gunnison County recently experienced Red Flag Warnings due to low humidity, wind, and dry fuels.

Current fire information can be found here:

Summer Events Are Around the Corner

One of the best parts of staying at Kebler Corner is being close to everything happening around the North Fork Valley while still being able to come back to peace and quiet at the end of the day.

Folk n’ Roots Rendezvous – May 22 to May 24

A favorite annual music festival bringing together nationally known artists, local musicians, camping, and community in the heart of the valley.

If you’re planning to attend either event, Kebler Corner makes a perfect home base — close enough to enjoy the festivities, but tucked away enough to relax afterward and enjoy the slower side of mountain camping.

We’re excited for another season and look forward to seeing familiar faces and first-time visitors alike around camp this summer.

Yours in camping,

Emily & Paul
