How is it already August? Summer always seems to fly by here in the mountains, and while we’re still soaking up every warm day along Anthracite Creek, we’re also looking ahead to another incredible camping season.
Whether you’re planning one last summer getaway, gearing up for hunting season, or already thinking ahead to next year, here’s what’s happening around Kebler Corner this week.
2027 Camping Reservations Are Officially Open!
It’s never too early to start planning your next mountain escape! We’re excited to announce that reservations for the 2027 camping season are now open.
Many of our returning guests book well in advance to secure their favorite campsites, especially for holiday weekends and peak summer dates. If you’ve stayed with us before—or have been dreaming about a trip to the North Fork Valley—now is a great time to reserve your spot. We can’t wait to welcome both familiar faces and first-time visitors for another unforgettable season in the Colorado mountains.
August Events Around the North Fork Valley
Delta County Fair | July 30 – August 8
One of Western Colorado’s favorite summer traditions is underway! The Delta County Fair features rodeos, livestock shows, carnival rides, live entertainment, exhibits, local vendors, delicious fair food, and family-friendly activities throughout the week.
Whether you’re spending the day at the fair or making a weekend of it, Kebler Corner is a great place to relax after the festivities.

Pickin’ in the Park | Every Thursday in August
Thursday nights in Paonia come alive with Pickin’ in the Park, a free community concert series held in Paonia Town Park.
Bring a lawn chair or blanket, grab dinner from a local food vendor, and enjoy an evening of live music under the cottonwood trees.

Brush & Barrel at Kebler Corner | August 15
Join us for an evening of creativity, delicious local wine , and mountain scenery during our Brush & Barrel event at Kebler Corner.
Whether you’re an experienced artist or picking up a paintbrush for the first time, this relaxed event is a fun way to spend an evening with friends and fellow campers!

Hunting Season Is Right Around the Corner
Fall may seem a little way off, but hunting season will be here before we know it.
If you drew a tag for GMUs 53, 55, or 521, Kebler Corner makes an excellent home base for your hunt.
Our convenient location provides easy access to nearby public lands while offering the comforts you’ll appreciate after a long day in the field, including:

Anthracite Creek Fly Fishing Report | Week of August 3
Summer fishing continues to be excellent on Anthracite Creek.
Current Conditions
Water levels have settled into typical summer flows, with clear water and healthy insect activity providing excellent opportunities throughout the day. Early mornings and evenings continue to produce the most consistent action, especially on warmer afternoons.

- PMD patterns
- Chubby Chernobyl
- Copper John
- Pheasant Tail Nymph
- Hare’s Ear
Dry-dropper rigs remain one of the most productive techniques, with terrestrial patterns becoming increasingly effective as summer progresses.
Where Fish Are Holding
- Undercut banks
- Pocket water
- Riffles flowing into deeper pools
- Shaded stretches of the creek
- Cut banks with slower current
Current Fire Conditions
Although some wildfire activity across Colorado has improved thanks to the tireless work of wildland firefighters from across the country, much of Western Colorado continues to experience severe drought conditions and elevated fire danger, especially with this heat wave.
Gunnison County and Kebler Corner remain under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions. During your stay, please remember:
- No wood or charcoal campfires are permitted.
- Propane fire pits and propane cooking devices with an on/off valve are allowed.
- Fireworks are strictly prohibited.
- Please use extra caution with anything that could create sparks in dry vegetation.
